Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s life

Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875, at Nadiad in the Kheda district (Gujarat). He was the third son of Vallabha and Jhabubba Patel and had three sisters. He received his primary education in his native village, and after that, he joined the school in Petlad.

He was admitted to the Wilson High School in Ahmedabad and passed Class 8 in 1891. In 1892, he was enrolled in the Gujarat College. He studied law and passed his final examination in 1897. He started his practice in Ahmedabad in 1898.

Sardar Vallabh Bhai Pate was a freedom fighter, statesman, India’s first deputy prime minister and home minister. He was instrumental in getting 500 princely states to sign on to the Indian Union after independence.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel received the highest civilian award in India, the Bharat Ratna, in 1991. India awarded him the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 1991 for his services to the nation. He was also honoured with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the highest sporting honour in the country, for his contribution to the field of sports and a Padma Vibhushan in 1991.

He was a true and dedicated soldier of India. The strength of his character and the forcefulness of his actions made him one of the most admired and controversial political figures in all of India’s history.
